National Child Labour Project (NCLP)

NATIONAL CHILD LABOUR PROJECT(NCLP) IYS is running 3 non-formal schools for child labourers, one at Khurda District and Area for preparatory education of working child labourers. Around 50 children in the age group of 7-14 years are getting an education in the centres. Our trained teachers and staff are engaged in running the schools and imparting education to these unprivileged children with different play-way methods to attract them towards education. We are in the process of integrating these children into the mainstream of education. The programme is running under the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) of the Government of Odisha. IYS shall also step forward to sensitise the society and community at large against the engagement of children in any work. Due to poverty, the children are being utilised as child labour in the crossers, hotels and agricultural field. Today’s child is regarded as the future citizen of our country. If they have been neglected very beginning, the society will not be able to get worthy sons in the reconstruction of the country. LYS make aware o the parents of the children at work about the demerits of the child labour systems through camps and workshops. The school provides day boarding facility to these children along with Tiffin, mid-day meal, dress, books and Rs. 100/- as stipend per month. There is also providing vocational training like tailoring, candle and agarbatti making, etc, to these children with the objective of help them become self-independent in the time to come.

ENGLISH COACHING:- English has certainly replaced all languages worldwide in all communication systems. Its effect has also percolated down to Indian life. Once a foreign language has been present in all walks of human life. It is undoubtedly the organic need in contemporary society. The Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribe students are far behind the current trend. Despite their industriousness, they do not excel because they lack proficiency, which also affects their confidence level. Having realised, lYS put its effort to supplement this deficiency in those students in collaboration with Coaching Cum Guidance Centre under the Ministry of labour & Employment, GOI.  Mostly students coming to the walling are aspirants for different Competitive examinations. Our effort was successful in the 2nd batch, in which Rameswar Munda, a tribal boy, succeeded in getting through the post of stenographer in Bhaba Atomic. Research Centre, Bombay. Several other boys got through corporate & private assignments. After an impact assessment and secret opinion poll, we are looking forward to some resources to carry forward this activity.
